I would love to teach at Covington Elementary because it is where I had attended school when I was younger. I attended there from Kindergarten, all the way through 6th grade. Covington Elementary had outstanding teachers and I had a lot of fun while I was there. This school is located in Covington, Washington, a small town in King county located near Kent and Maple valley. Covington Elementary was not diverse when I attended there. When it comes to student ethnicity, they are at 53% white, with the Washington state average being 63%. The rest of the student ethnicity is 17% Hispanic, 13% Asian, 10% Black, 5% two or more races, 2% American Indian/Alaska Native, and 1% Hawaiian Native/Pacific Islander. The Washington state averages are 18% Hispanic, 7% Asian, 5% Black, 5% Two or more races, 2% American Indian/Alaska Native, and 1% Hawaiian Native/Pacific Islander. I will integrate my comfortable teaching style and fun personality to the school by doing fun learning activities with my students. I will show my students that I care about them, and that I am constantly trying to help them grow. Instead of learning about subjects straight from a textbook, I would incorporate real life situations so students can connect more with what they are learning. I plan on creating an inclusive classroom by constantly trying to discover new strategies of teaching, as well as recognizing what strategies do not work. I will make sure to always stick to the curriculum and to be aware of the different needs of my students.
